Seminar with Professor Luiz Palhares 07/24/2010
We had an outstanding seminar this weekend with 6th degree black belt (Brazillian National Champion and 3X Pan American Champion) Luiz Palhares. Professor Palhares started with some simple but effective takedowns and then moved into a series of Butterfly Guard sweeps that flowed into some X-Guard work.
We had a great group of trainees from several schools in the area (the gang from Jackson and Cliff Fonseca's crew from Jiu Jitsu Nation in Smyrna). Professor Palhares encouraged everyone to finish up with some friendly rolling between the "clans."
Stan wins in New York! 05/01/2010
Stan Mabry travelled to the Big Apple to compete in the New York International Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship. Showing an ever expanding skill set, Stan set aside his patented Arm-Bar and instead decided to obliterate the competition via Triangle this time around. Congratulations Stan!
New Mats finally arrive 04/14/2010
Our new custom mats finally arrived. This doubles our mat space and pretty much fills the training floor. Things are looking good at Brentwood Brazillian Jiu Jitsu!
Pan Ams results 04/10/2010
Matt won his first two matches by submission and then lost on an advantage in the third match. Andrew wrecked his first opponent with a kimura and was beaten by and armbar in his next match. Stan by his patented armbar in the first match but lost his second. Max dislocated his opponent's elbow - but he wouldn't tap and lost on points. Javi lost his first match by an advantage. Some wins, some losses - but a good showing against the best competition in the world. Great job guys!
Matt and Andrew win at Arnolds!!! 03/06/2010
Matt wins Gold and Andrew brings home the Silver from the Arnold Classic in Ohio. Matt won all six of his matches to take the gold and Andrew won five matches to take silver. Great job guys!
Congratulations to our Tennessee State Judo Champions 02/20/2010
Brentwood BJJ is home to TN State Judo Champions. Stan Mabry brought home the gold and Jonathan Eddins brought home the silver in their divisions. Congratulations!

Congratulations on NAGA Wins!!! 6/13/2009
Nord, Stan and Matt won gold in their gi divisions. John won second in his no-gi division and Matt won third in no-gi at the NAGA in Atlanta, GA. Nord Bathon won his blue belt gi division after receiving his blue belt one week before (6/5/2009). Congratulations on earning the belt.

Master Helio Gracie Passes (October 1, 1913 – January 29, 2009)
It is with great sadness that we take a moment of silence to remember Master Hélio Gracie, the creator of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu along his brother Carlos Gracie.
Helio was 95 years old and still training when he passed away at his house in Itaipava, Rio de Janeiro. Helio was the father of some of the best fighters in Jiu-Jitsu and MMA history, like Rickson, Rorion, Royce, Rolker and Relson,
